Cooked Up Histories - Tamil Cuisine
What to Expect
Cooked Up Histories returns this Sunday with an exploration of Tamil cuisine, which a living food culture that goes far beyond the familiar pongal, sambar, rasam, and biryani.
Shaped over more than 2,500 years, Tamil food is an evolving tapestry woven from soil, sea, forest, migration, politics, memory, and celebration. What makes it remarkable is the way it draws from and grows through diverse communities of coastal fishers, farming families, traders, healers, artisans, and neighbouring cultures, and each contributing their own ingredients, techniques, and stories to the table.
In this session, we move beyond the conventional narratives often found in mainstream media and culture, exploring lesser-known flavours and food traditions that remain deeply rooted in Tamil identity.
Cook, learn, and eat with us.
