We open at 9 p.m. with a modern trio pushing contemporary jazz language forward — then shift gears at 11:15 p.m. for a Tokyo-based quartet steeped in lyricism, swing, and depth.

🎶 9:00 p.m. — One Man Standing
Fan favorite One Man Standing returns with their blend of contemporary jazz shaped by modern piano-driven sounds. Think the influence of Esbjörn Svensson Trio and Robert Glasper alongside classics from Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, and Ahmad Jamal.
They move between groove, space, and reinterpretation — modern textures anchored in jazz tradition.

Late set: 🎹 11:15 p.m. — Yuki Makita Quartet
Tokyo-based pianist Yuki Makita brings her soulful, lyrical voice to Smalls. Known for expressive touch, intricate harmonic depth, and effortless swing, she moves fluidly between timeless standards and original compositions with grace and emotional clarity.
From intimate Tokyo jazz clubs to major concert stages across Asia, Makita has built a reputation for nuanced artistry and quiet intensity. Her playing is refined, poetic, and deeply connected — a sound that fills the room without force.
She is joined by Bangkok music luminaries:
🎻 Sylvain Gagnon – Bass
Montreal-born virtuoso equally at home on double bass and electric. A global touring musician who has performed with Bob Mintzer, Eric Marienthal, Olivia Newton-John, Jackie Cheung, and many more. One of Asia’s most sought-after bassists.
🥁 Gary Da Silva – Drums
A familiar presence in Tokyo and Hong Kong’s music scenes, known for dynamic touch and cool, grounded stage presence. His playing balances precision and feel with understated authority.
