This Thursday FRAME is collaborating with Cinemata to bring a selection of short films hand-picked by curator Eunice Helera. To commemorate Women’s Month, Cinemata presents HER FRAME: Women Filmmakers on Cinemata, a special program of short films by women filmmakers from Philippines and Malaysia. Across these films, women confront the expectations placed upon them: how they should behave, what they should want, and the roles they are expected to carry; revealing how women are often judged for being too different, too outspoken, too radical, or too liberated — yet also expected to endure, provide, and care for others.

HER FRAME brings these works together as a celebration of women filmmakers who claim their space in cinema, shaping stories through their own perspectives and lived experiences. The program also highlights films currently available on the Cinemata platform, offering a glimpse into the growing archive of Southeast Asian cinema and the voices shaping it today.
