🎷 Jaekon Jeon Trio & CFBreak • Live at Smalls 🎶

Headlining the late set is the Jaekon Jeon Trio, bringing together musicians from Seoul and Bangkok for a one-night collaboration. Opening the evening is CFBreak, a Thai ensemble exploring the edges of modern jazz with original compositions and collective improvisation.

🎻 Jaekon Jeon Trio

Korean bassist Jaekon Jeon and pianist Esther Jo arrive in Bangkok to reunite with drummer Pong Nakornchai for a trio built around improvisation and musical conversation. Jeon and Jo perform together frequently in Seoul and bring that established connection to the Smalls stage.

Their circle of collaborators includes Japanese guitarist Masa Sasaki, who appeared at Smalls earlier this year with Pong. Now the musical thread continues as Jeon and Jo join him in Bangkok.

🎻 Jaekon Jeon — Bass
Seoul bassist Jaekon Jeon works across Korea’s contemporary jazz circuit in small ensembles focused on improvisation and interaction. His playing anchors the rhythm section while remaining harmonically flexible, allowing the bass to move between foundation and melodic dialogue.

🎹 Esther Jo — Piano
Pianist Esther Jo appears regularly alongside Jaekon Jeon in Seoul jazz clubs. Their partnership has developed through repeated trio and quartet performances built around attentive listening and responsive interplay.

🥁 Pong Nakornchai — Drums
One of Bangkok’s most respected drummers, Pong Nakornchai combines power with nuance, making him a natural partner for visiting musicians. He leads his own progressive jazz quartet and teaches jazz drums at the College of Music, Mahidol University.

🎶 CFBreak

Smalls welcomes CFBreak, the new chapter of a Thai jazz ensemble known for pushing beyond the familiar. Formerly performing as Coffee Break Jazz, the group now moves forward under a new name and a sharper focus on modern jazz exploration.
