Gen Z Quartet

Smalls welcomes Gen-Z Quartet, a young-generation jazz group bringing original music and fresh ideas to the stage.
The band describes itself simply:

“Gen-Z Quartet is a new generation Jazz Quartet, playing all original musics in the Gen-Z way.”

Gun, TJ and Warit previously collaborated in the Bangkok project Unda Alunda. Their shared background in modern jazz and fusion projects forms part of the musical chemistry behind this quartet.

The performance centers on original compositions, giving the group space to explore groove, improvisation, and interaction in a small-group setting.

🎼 The Band

🎹 Warit (Tonnam) Techakanont – Keys
Warit is one of Bangkok’s most versatile young keyboardists, active across jazz, fusion, and contemporary music. A graduate of the College of Music at Mahidol University, he performs widely with a range of projects in the Bangkok scene and frequently collaborates with both Thai and international musicians.

🎻 Gun Thirakoon – Bass
Bangkok-based bassist Gun Thirakoon is active in contemporary jazz and fusion projects in the city. He has performed with keyboardist Warit Techakanont in the Bangkok project Unda Alunda, part of the city’s modern creative music scene.

🎷 Phan Parin – Aerophone
Phan Parin is a wind-instrument player and music educator who teaches saxophone and improvisation. His work combines performance and teaching within Thailand’s jazz community.

🥁 Tristan Josh “TJ” Trinidad – Drums
Tristan Josh “TJ” Trinidad is a drummer active in Bangkok’s contemporary jazz and creative music scene. Known for his flexible approach and responsive playing style, he appears in a range of collaborative projects across the city.

The band’s performance focuses on original compositions, creating space for improvisation, groove, and musical interaction between the members of the group.
