Sean Hong Wei Quartet
What to Expect
Singapore-born saxophonist Sean Hong Wei brings his quartet to Smalls for a night of modern jazz
rooted in tradition and shaped by years of international collaboration.
Now based in New York City, Sean has emerged as one of the strongest young jazz voices from Southeast Asia,
performing with artists including Reggie Workman, Billy Hart, Billy Harper, Randy Brecker, Benny Golson, and Lewis Nash.
A longtime member of the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra (JASS), Sean has appeared at festivals
across Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
His debut album The New Jersey Sessions, released in 2024 with Jeremy Monteiro, features Jay Anderson,
Evan Sherman, Alex Sipiagin, and Houston Person.
Influenced by artists including Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and Joe Lovano,
his playing reflects a strong connection to jazz tradition while developing a personal and direct voice of his own.
